Tokyo City Skate
Skated in Tokkyo by joining local skaters.
There is a weekly skate called "Tokyo City Run" every Sunday morning. Meet at Ueno Park at 9AM and start rolling at 9:30. Most of the route was sidewalk becasue it is not really legitinamate to skate on streets in Tokyo. Thus, the pace was quite slow. But it is always fun to skate places other than my own city, and this Tokyo City Run was not an exception. I have had joined this Tokyo City Run several times in the past and the skaters remembered me and welcomed me. Thanks, Tokyo! :: DATA :: Skates: CanarIam Platino + Maple Diamond Route: Ueno - Tokyo Station - Tameike - Aoyama Mileage: 6 miles Weather: Temp 60F, Humidity 50%, Wind NNW 20mph, Event clear.

Bont 3 Point Semi Race
My first 3 points mount boots. I was not sure if I was going to like them but everybody who have these boots said they liked them. So, I decided to give a try.
Another good reason for me to make a purchase this set was that 3 points mount enables me to use four 100 without custom boots for long mount (my feet are too small for long mount from shelf boots). Bont boots are extremely heat moldable. I did heat molding both feet and became much better fit. I can't wait for a ride BUT IT IS RAINING tonight. Got to wait for tomorrow. :: DATA :: Skates: Bont 3 Points Semi Race + Bont S-Frame 100x4 + Matter Juice (100mm 84A) Route: None Mileage: 0km (0.0 miles) Weather: Temp. 50F. Star Grip
Star Grip wheels were racers' favorite few years ago. It got sure grip and speed and lightweight.
Durometer 85A is just about right. The narrow profile (20mm instead of 24mm) might require little time to be accustomed.
It is my first time using these wheels and I like them pretty much though there is a downside. The ride is quite nice if the pavements are smooth but these wheels are not good for a rough pavement since they have less urethane. The name of the wheels is after its patented 'Star Hub' - each wheels have seven plastic spokes. Weight is 106gr for 100mm. :: DATA :: Skates: Canariam Apollo + Arco 1084 + Star Grip (100mm 85A) Route: West Side Path and Central Park Mileage: 20km (12.5 miles) Weather: Temp. 83F. Skate DC Weekend
It is always fun to skate a capitol of the nation. This year was not an exception.
In addition to that, pavement in DC is quite nice and smooth. There were several skates over the weenekdn of May 21st to 23rd. The first skate was ' Monumental DC Skates' took place in the Friday evening. I personally like this the most since its so wonderful to skate in fron to the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument etc. :: DATA :: Skates: Salomon Vitesse Route: Washington DC Mileage: 17.6km (11 miles) Weather: Temp. 76F. Lace
I have been looking for decent laces. One of my speed boot (CanarIam Platino + Boen) needs a new lace as it was torn.
It was much more difficult to find a pair I like. I don't like too long lace. Ideal lenght is 63" (160cm) but the shortest sold in the market is 72" because they are for hockey (I don't know why hockey boots use such long lace). I checked ALL possible retail stores and only one place had 63". I was almost ready to place an order but S&H was too expensive ($10 for shipping for a pair of lace for $6, does not make too much sense to me). Then I remember the 'Lugino' always have good stuff. So I went their web and found 60" (150cm) lace! 60" is better than 62". So, I bought 2 pairs! :: DATA :: Skates: Canariam Apollo + Arco 1084 + Hyper Stripe Route: West Side Path Mileage: 14km (9 miles) Weather: Temp. 80F. Arco 1084
Replaced the frames equipped with the Apollo boots from K2 to Arco.
It totally changed the skating experience with these boots. K2 3100 is known for reasonably good frames with budget. It was OK with me but they were not my favorite at all as the maneuverability was not great to me. Since Apollo boots are 165 mount, I chose Arco 1084 (100x3 + 84x1) frames. I knew I was going to love them. I used to have Arco 5x84 straight frames and fell in love with them (the length was too long so I decided to let them go). My second Arco frames did not turn me down at all. They are just great. Glide is easy, small turns are easy to manipulate and the ride is so smooth. I love Arco frames. I think they went out of business, too bad. :: DATA :: Skates: Canariam Apollo + Arco 1084 + Hyper Stripe Route: Central Park Mileage: 14km (9 miles) Weather: Temp. 70F (+21 C). Skated with socks on
First day with socks on!
The custom boots fitting is getting better and better. It was so difficult to put in my feet in the boots on the day one. Skated with no shoe lace and no socks for twice or three times - both for a short distance. The boots sometimes take a few skates to get loosened up and get the foot to sit all the way back. They are getting better so I added shoe lace yesterday. Still no socks. Today is the first day usign socks. I chose the thinest socks I have and they worked fine.
These boots are really great. I think I will love them a lot once they are fully customized (loosened). Frames are great, too. Actually I was going to mount carbon frames but they were not available so I chose Pilot frames as for an alternative (and temporary) solution. It turned out to be great frames that I will probably use for long.

Where is everybody?
Skated in Central Park and found no other skaters at all.
It was very windy this morning but wind died down by noon time. It was not too cold and enjoyed skating with my Pinnacle boots. Skaters typically sleep late so probably they come out later in the afternoon.

First Custom Boots
Finally everything to assemble my new skates with Pinnacle Tsunami boots are here.
I wanted to equipped with carbon frames but Tusa frames did not have inverntory so I bought Lugino Pilot instead. Wheels are Matter F3, bearings are standard as I don't need any particular fast bearing at this point (I will replace them with Swiss later).
I just can't wait skating with them!

First Spring Skate
It turned out to real nice day. The temperature hit 60F (15.5C).
Consequently it was the first day skating with bare legs. It was so nice skating with lighter clothes, despite I needed to fight with a strong head wind on a north bound. :: DATA :: Skates: CnarIam Apollo + K2 Three Hundred + Hyper Stripe 100mm84a + Bank Robber 84mm84a w/ 608 Route: West Side Path Mileage: 13km Weather: Temp. 55F (+13 C). Great EsSkate 2008 Skated Miami for the 8th annual Great EsSkate. It was my third time.
Great EsSkate
We skated 35km on Saturday and skate ended on a beach side picnic. Perfect weather, perfect route and perfect fellow skaters. Photos

New Skates! Skated to downtown and picked up a falafel sandwitch and ate at the pier near the Christopher Street.
Finally my new skates, ordered in the end of April, have arrived. The reason for delay was the boots that were special order.
This is my first 100's. I went out to west side path for a test run. They are great! It runs so smooth, unbelievably nice. No wonder everybody goes to 100's. Boots need some adjustment for ankle area, which was highly expected. I will do heat molding when I have time. I am extremely happy with my 100's. :: DATA :: Skates: CnarIam Apollo + K2 Three Hundred + Hyper Stripe 100mm84a + Bank Robber 84mm84a w/ 608 Route: West Side Path Mileage: 22km Weather: Temp. 75F (+24 C). Skate 'n' Lunch Skated to downtown and picked up a falafel sandwitch and ate at the pier near the Christopher Street.
One of the best way to spend a weekend lunch time.
The weather was unbelievably great. It was not seasonable rahter nice and cool and less humid, yet a plenty of sunshine. I would like to live a place where the weather is always like this. :: DATA :: Skates: CnarIam Platino + Boen 326 + HyperG 8085 with 608 Route: West Side Path Mileage: 20km Weather: Temp. 77F (+25 C). NY Times Article Empire Skate Club's Thursday Evening Roll (TER) is in NY Times - 'UrbanEye' email. --- QT --- FITNESS Public Efforts There are nearly as many New York Sports Clubs as Starbucks, but why do your sweating indoors? Calm Wind A perfect skating condition is that not too warm, not too cold temparature with calm wind. This is what we've got today.
Skated West Side Path from 11:00 to 13:00 for 12 miles (19 km).
Normally, whichever direction you skate, you get a head wind. This is so c alled Skater's Law. But it did not apply today. There was NO WIND at one point. I took a proof photo. These are three flags resting on the masts. It is not a perfect picture as for a flag however all skaters would love this one. :: DATA :: Skates: Canariam Platino + Maple Diamond 805 + HyperG + 688 Route: West Side Path Mileage: 19km Weather: Temp. 53F (+11 C).
